Job Description:

Responsible for providing specialist technical input to and support of Commodity operations and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrates safety leadership and Anglo American values.
Participate in Business Planning Activities – Business Planning, Life-of-Asset Planning, etc.
Provide technical input and support to operations towards technical and operational excellence.
Provide oversight and assurance on Group governance policies, procedures and standards towards operational excellence.
Participate in trouble shooting activities to solve metallurgical/operational problems.
Manage/participate in specific Optimization Initiatives.
Participate in project development via Concept, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility Studies.
Conduct performance assessment of processes and operations (via metallurgical testing/assessment).
Perform analysis utilizing a range of tools (such as mass & energy balancing simulation software and unit operation modelling software).
Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practice transfer.
A Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering degree qualification.
Knowledge and Technical Skills:

Track record of translating ideas into practical initiatives and a demonstration of successful execution and delivery of Technical Improvement and Optimization Initiatives within a Mining context.
Familiar with process analysis and associated tools (ranging from Excel to mass and energy balance simulation software and unit process modelling).
Select and apply metallurgical tools and techniques in support of processing plants, and provides technical support to solve complex problems.
Implement research proposals, manages routine research projects and oversee testing, analysis and interpretation.
Apply process design and improvement methodologies to drive efficiencies and solve technical and operational problems.
Apply project development methodologies in ‘early studies’, i.e. Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies.
Apply project management techniques to effectively manage project activities, and assist in tracking progress.
