Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa Limited (MRoA) has been operating in South Africa for 50 years, although the Munich Re (Group) was active on the Continent via Munich Re in Munich for some years prior to commencing the Southern African operation in Johannesburg in 1968. The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town.
Responsible for monthly payroll and related tax processing activities (including expatriates)
Familiarize and keep current with the taxation of salaries and benefits and ensure that all statutory requirements and payroll related policies are accurately applied and adhered to
Manage internal monthly expatriate postings and reconciliations with general ledger
Support Financial & Management Reporting (FMR) with the reconciliation process
Ensure that the creditors are accurately paid on time and reconciled accordingly
Manage the Mid-Year and Year-End Tax Reconciliation and Returns
Support the Pension Management Committee in retirement fund activities
Ensure monthly back-ups and updates are done timely on internal HR system (Sage People 300)
Participate in the monthly on-boarding of new employees
Support the Annual Company Bonus pay-out cycle and Salary Increase process
Administer the Munich Re of Africa Short Term Insurance Staff Scheme and other employee benefits
Administer the Pension fund including monthly reconciliation, claims, employee queries, retiree support
Support with the monthly and adhoc HR statistical reporting
Statutory reporting such as ROE
Administration of the employee leave on internal HR system and providing quarterly leave accruals
Participating in annual internal and external audits
Support with the preparation of the annual salary structure
Partnering and working collaboratively with HR team to elevate the employee experience
Participate in adhoc HR projects as required.
HR Degree / National Diploma in Payroll/Finance or related studies, preferably with mathematical and accounting subjects
Hands-on, strong functional knowledge and a minimum of 5 years inhouse payroll operation experience
SAP accounting exposure and experience with reconciliation of salaries accounts
Proficient with Sage 300 People (essential)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Knowledge of best practices around salaries and payroll topics, policies and procedures
PAYE knowledge is essential
GRP qualification is advantageous
