Our Risk Management Generalist – Practice Support team focuses on promoting and monitoring compliance with applicable external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage PwC’s regulatory, litigation, and reputational risk.

JOB PURPOSE

To support the Partner Responsible for Independence (PRI) Team in carrying out the responsibilities for the firm’s personal independence processes and controls. This includes interpretation of policy, communication, training, consultations and disciplinary actions in support of compliance with the firm’s policies by the firm’s partners and staff.

 

A.  JOB PROFILE

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned)

 

Personal independence

Support the PRI in responsibilities for Checkpoint portfolio management, including monitoring of exception reports and researching User Added Instruments.
Provide support to partners and managers researching the permissibility of proposed investment securities.
Manage the Personal Independence Compliance testing (PICT) process as well as any other Independence screenings.
Review results received from the Kolkata PICT testing team and report findings to the PRI.
Perform an assessment of the root causes for Independence non-compliance.
Reporting:

Assistance with reporting on Audit Quality Indicators to Leadership

Assistance with reporting on the PICT results to the PwC Global Network

 

Implementing the standards on Independence

Support the PRI in implementing the annual independence action plan, agreed and supported by appropriate leadership in your firm.
Monitor the achievement of the plan and the completion of the agreed actions and regularly report on/communicate with firm leadership regarding independence activities.
Continually stay abreast of Global and SEC Independence policy and guidance.  Ensure that these policies are appropriately supplemented for any local professional and regulatory requirements.
Be familiar with the requirements of each Lines of Service QMSE and in particular ISQC1/the Assurance QMSE.   Be comfortable with the content of the Assurance QMSE as it relates to personal independence activities as well the results and findings of any reviews. Support the PRI and senior team members in implementing follow-up or improvement specific actions as agreed with Assurance R&Q.
Research:

Research technical issues (Independence Policies and SOPS.)

 

Training and Communications:

Develop and assist in the implementation of independence training based on the needs and risk of the firm.
Draft Independence communications for release to the practice
Compliance:

Assistance with completing QMSE documentation as it relates to Independence

Assistance with regulatory inspection requirements.

Assistance with Firm reviews as required by the PwC GlobalNetwork

Assist with the roll-out of Independence projects.

EXPERIENCE

Strong Customer Service / Management Experience
Working in a multinational organization with diverse culture, and virtual teams.
Financial Management Experience
Experience in auditor independence
5 years
KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Experience in Assurance Line of Service Essential, R&Q experience advantageous
Technical research skills – being able to evaluate a situation broadly and to consider all aspects, including Risk Management standards, Independence rules and guidance, Companies Act and other applicable legislation.
Highly computer literate with intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Google documents advantageous
Intellectual curiosity – ask the questions, challenge, general skepticism
The ability to think critically and solve complex problems efficiently and practically.
Self-motivated and attention to detail
