Job Description
RCL FOODS is currently looking for an Accountant to join the Sugar and Milling Team in Worcester. The role will be based at the Mill and reports into to the Finance Manager. The ideal person will be a decisive, efficient and is passionate about leading others. The Accountant will be entrusted to maintain the General Ledger and supervise the functions performed by the GL& Debtors Clerk as well as the Cash Book& admin clerk. To ensure that all statutory reporting is in line with IFRS and required reporting standards.
Minimum Requirements
3-year degree / diploma in accounting preferable (extensive experience and proven track record will be considered as alternative) Minimum of 3 years’ experience n a general ledger or related accounting function SAP FI Experience
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance of the General Ledger Provision of supporting documentation for General Ledger reconciliations monthly, which entail backup schedules in support of certain Balance Sheet Accounts Following up of queries/reconciling items ensuring that no significant items remain on the reconciliations when closing the General Ledger. Provide input on feed tax and accounting year end schedules as required by central finance and tax team. Overseeing the reconciliation of Inter-branch / Inter-company accounts and following up on queries/reconciling items. Perform manual clearing on SAP open item accounts, e.g. Provisions, accruals, ensuring open items are reviewed and cleared timeously. Journals Reviewing and approving of journals and accrual entries posted by the Mill finance team. Capture journal and accrual entries when required, including routine monthly transactions, corrections and provisions, ensuring correct account allocations. Ensure own journal and accrual entries are authorized by the Finance Manager. Intercompany Transactions At month end, oversee the reconciliation of the Mtech balance to the Feed SAP balance for feed sales to consumer At month end, oversee the reconciliation of PBY & Sundry purchases from consumer. Ensure that any other intercompany transactions with any of the companies within the RCL group is properly balanced and reconciled Sundry Sales Ensure completion of Receipt documents for all cash/cheques received. Oversee all sundry sales to ensure accuracy and completeness. Feed Sales Assist Vector Bedfordview in the resolution of customer queries by analysing line items on the specific debtor accounts. Provide assistance and support in the credit note approval process, for all stock relates credits. Petty Cash Oversee the Petty Cash function i.e. Safeguarding of the float Processing of withdrawals Cost allocation of payments Capturing of transactions Cheque Requisitions to maintain cash float Funding of the regional bank account to enable cheque to be withdrawn Cash Journal Review open line items on the petty cash in transit account and follow up with the regional cash book and admin clerk Fixed assets Provide assistance and guidance related to documentation to be completed relating to movements on fixed assets Assist with the physical verification process, by assisting with the distribution of asset sheets as well as collation and checking of documentation to be submitted to the central fixed asset accountant in Malelane. Work together with the operations manager in the annual assessment of useful lives by reviewing fixed asset amendment documentation prior to submission to the fixed asset accountant, and providing guidance where required. Follow up on all fixed asset movements / amendments with the fixed asset accountant, ensuring that they are accurately and timeously processed. Feed shop (where applicable) Attend half year and year end stock counts Perform regular visits to the feed shop, to monitor financial controls, thus promoting a strong control environment. Projects – Assist and contribute to any regional specific projects which require financial input. Information and Data management Ensure team members accurately and regularly capture data onto SAP to enable access to reliable data and reporting for trend analysis and decision making. Share relevant data with management teams to enable reliable business decision making.
