Technician : Condition Monitoring  ( HRL 15  )


Sappi Saiccor requires a Condition Monitoring Technician to provide high level support to the Engineering department through the aquisition and analysis of condition monitoring raw data by using predictive, proactive and preventative maintenance systems to ensure equipment reliability and plant availability is maintained at optimal levels.


This role reports to the Reliability Engineer


The main responsibilities of this job are

Set up and configure vibration and ultrasound databases, routes, analysis parameters and alarms for a specific area
Load and dump condition monitoring raw data into relevant operating systems (Vibration, Ultrasound, Infrared, Alloy/Material Analysis and Electronic Nip Impressions)
Analyse condition monitoring raw data and compile reports making recommendations to relevant engineers and plant personnel via the SAP system
Assist engineers and plant personnel in equipment commissioning and solving structural related problems.
Perform field balancing and laser alignment when required
Participte in equipment failure investigations (RCAs) to establish root causes of failure and preventing possible re-occurrence
Perform energy conservation surveys such as air leaks and steam trap leaks
Perform electronic nip impressions on rolls during paper/pulp machine shutdowns
Co-ordinate between the engineering departments and oil samples analysis contractor for analysis, reports and recommendations
Compile and submit mandatory monthly reports as required by the section manager and the mill
Maintain equipment change out and laser alignment data for statistical analysis
Stay abreast of industry changes and advancements
Comply with all safety and environmental policies and regulations in the execution of your job
Manage, coach and mentor EITs, TITs and condition monitoring data collectors as and when required
The ideal candidate should have

Minimum of N4 Engineering or equivalent with a recognised trade test in a related field while a completed Diploma will be considered advantageous
Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
Completion of any accredited vibration analysis courses and exposure to other condition monitoring tools/techniques will be considered advantageous
Computer Literacy (MS Office suite)
Knowledge of SAP CMMS will be considered advantageous
