The position reports to the Takealot’s Head of Operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Manage the stock recovery department and ensure that it is well organised
and controlled to sufficiently support production and the goals of the
Implement improvement processes and maintain procedures and systems
to minimise costs and maximize working capital
Develop a network of buyers and Jobber
Engage with retail teams and synergise the recovery process
Ensure the recovery percentage is maximize
Innovate and find optimal channels to sell distressed stock
Ensure that the Stock Recovery Guideline is strictly adhered to, from the time the recovery stock arrives in the dedicated areas in the warehouse.
Give feedback to the Returns and Inventory department when recovery stock doesn’t adhere to returns and damaged inventory policies.
Checking and confirming that the quantities correlates to what was received from Inventory and Returns.
Oversee tracking of pickup requests in cases of bulk stock sales.
Oversee that stock is accurately placed in designated areas for ongoing projects
Produce daily reports to ensure key critical areas of the stock recovery process are controlled
Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies
are highlighted, addressed and resolved
Manage and train the team to achieve optimal productivity result
Ensure that the team removes all the documents related to customers from
recovered stock, prior to put-away.
Ensure that all products are evaluated, quality checked, match the system
information and are stored appropriately
Ensure that the products that can be resold are checked and prepare them for put-away back into stock into an active location
Ensure that in some cases, the products are packed and sent to the Returns department to send back to the supplier
Ensure that all the products are carefully checked and make sure that all the data are correct and correspond to the real products
Solve all the issues related to the discrepancies between the received and the stored stock
Collaborate with the warehouse managers and supervisors in order to perform detailed inventories.
Manage listings and pricing on the Seller Portal
Inventory management on Seller Portal
Manage the creation of PO’s and barcoding on Seller Portal
Implement new processes according to the TAL’s business requirements
Technical assessment of electronics
Implementing processes for stock recovery and technical assessments across both DC
Receive all customer returns, analyse the reasons for the returns, technically evaluate the faults of the returned products
Receiving functions include: Unloading stock, systematically receive the stock , sort the products and take photographs, technically evaluate the products and categorically separate the stock in defined buckets
Recovery department, involved separating all the distressed stock, identify buyers and sell the products at a predetermined recovery price. This function involves operational and commercial tasks
Qualifications and attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics preferable
7+ years’ experience in project management and facilitation of process improvement initiatives across business operations and technology
5+ years’ experience in directly and indirectly managing people to deliver continuous improvement
A structured and disciplined management style
Ability to motivate and inspire others a must
Strong trading background and affinity
Established commercial experience
Strong problem solving skills
Self-starter with high energy levels a must
Proven track record of successfully implementing operational best practices in a distribution and warehousing environment
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer focused working environment
Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality
Good team player, hard worker, willing to be flexible with a positive attitude
Must be able to work as part of a multi-cultural team
